What this is
The authorization for the opening of a museum or the establishment of a historical monument is a non-tax revenue collected for the issuance of an administrative authorization allowing the creation, opening, and operation of a museum, or the construction of a structure recognized as a historical monument of cultural, artistic, architectural, or heritage significance. It applies to individuals, legal entities, local authorities, or institutions wishing to establish a space dedicated to the preservation, exhibition, and promotion of cultural assets, or to create a monument contributing to the preservation of collective memory and national heritage. This authorization enables the competent administration to ensure the control, protection, and enhancement of cultural heritage elements, while ensuring compliance with standards relating to the conservation of historical and cultural assets. The payment of this fee constitutes an administrative requirement prior to carrying out the activity and contributes to financing the State’s missions of heritage regulation and promotion. This revenue falls within the cultural sector and is collected for the benefit of the State budget through the Ministry of Arts and Culture (MINAC).
